Hey folks,

Recently Jake McLargehuge, host of the awesome Asian movie review show Podcast Without Honor and Humanity, ran into a bit of a snag. Seems the guest host he had planned for the latest episode of his 'cast bailed, leaving him with a slot to fill. Since I'm well known for my constant "whoring" as The Cancer Man puts it, I jumped at the opportunity. And I'm glad I did - Jake had some good picks lined up. First up was the 1981 sleazy slice of Hong Kong Triad awesomeness that is The Club. After that, we tackled a South Korean take on The Dirty Dozen with 2003's Silmido. It was a ramble-tastic good time and well worth checking out.

Last night I sat down (via the Skype) with Mat of Dead Lantern, Bryan of Drunken Zombie, Ronin of the Sleepy Cast, and Julie of 19 Nocturne Boulevard to record another "intense" installment of DeadTrax. This week, Julie picked 1998's intensely intense crapfest Captured. It stars Andrew Divoff of Wishmaster fame. It is quite terrible.

Myctophobia Begins Fundraising & Pre-Production

Hey Folks,

Bryan from The Drunken Zombie Podcast has a new short film in production. Check out the press release and maybe throw some coin his way. He's good people, and his previous shorts Whisper and Shadows were highly enjoyable.

Freakwolf Productions is happy to announce that their upcoming short film Myctophobia begins production in February as part of the short film compilation The Collective Volume 4. The theme of all the films on The Collective Volume 4 is emotions.

Writer/Director Bryan Wolford was given Fear, and while researching different phobias Bryan settled on
Myctophobia which is labeled as a Fear of Darkness. He then crafted a story about Kelly who has a fear of
the dark and while at home by herself the lights go out. She soon finds herself bombarded by sights and
sounds that only strengthen her fear of the dark. Is all of it really happening or only in her head? The Collective Volume 4 is scheduled to premiere at the Days of the Dead convention on July 6th to July 8th in Indianapolis, Indiana.

With Myctophobia we want to bring a great atmospheric story to your screen. Sure, blood and guts are fun sometimes but we want our viewers to feel Kelly's dread in their stomachs. We will prove that you don't need a big budget to produce big scares. We want to bring that fear of darkness to life in front of your eyes and make you start to worry when you shut your lights off at night that you get a small pit in your stomach and try to convince yourself that the noise you just heard was only the cat in the living room. Wait . . . do you even have a cat?

The project is currently fund raising through Indie Go Go in the hopes of raising a small amount of money to make sure the cast and crew gets a little pocket change out of the experience and to help pay for some special effects for the film. All of the filming with be done over a weekend in late February thus keeping the costs low. Anyone can donate to the project through the Indie Go Go page and receive incentives like signed copies of The Collective Volume 4, an invite to the cast and crew screening, and a cast and crew exclusive t-shirt. El Goro on Scream Queenz #35 & Splattercast #235

Hey Folks,

As should be abundantly clear by now, I love exposing myself (Ghostbusters 2 quotes non-withstanding). To that end, I recently popped up on two excellent podcasts.

First up we have Scream Queenz episode 35. The fabulous Patrick posted a request on the twitters for his listeners to check out the spectacularly-titled Ticked-Off Trannies With Knives. With a name like that, how could I pass it up? So I rambled off a quick review, and Patrick was kind enough to post it up on his show. And since I was the only person to send in my thoughts on Ticked-Off Trannies, Patrick bestowed upon me the prestigious title of "Scream Queen of the Week." Truly, my life is complete.

Next up, was an appearance on Splattercast episode 235 (The hell is up with this reoccurring number 35? I sense a conspiracy). I was killing time on the Dead Lantern IRC when the guys put out an open call for co-hosts for the latest episode of The Splattercast. The film under discussion: Charles Band's Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn. Now, the Cancer Man loves to say that I have a mad-on for bad films. I'll tell ya folks, even my tolerance for cheese was put to the test with Metalstorm. Getting through it required heroic feats of inebriation, so the subsequent recording session was...interesting.

We're planning on recording Episode 71: Paprika and Summer Wars tomorrow night. Get yer feedback in!

So this week's episode of Talk Without Rhythm is going to be a bit delayed: I'm traveling down to Cincinnati this weekend, so we figured we'd record Episode 66 while I'm at La Casa de Cancer Man. In the meantime, if you want to get your fix of me and my cancerous cohort, might I suggest the following:

The 42nd Street Drive-In: Episode 8
I recorded a segment with the guys from the awesome 42nd Street Drive-In Podcast. They were doing a kung-fu episode, so I lumbered over to weigh-in on the superb 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Plus, Vaughn from Motion Picture Massacre was on hand to talk about the cult classic, Master of the Flying Guillotine.

The Splattercast: Episode 230
The guys from the venerable Splattercast invited the Cancer Man and I to record an episode with them as part of their "Co-Host Month." And they graciously allowed us to pick the movies to cover. Fools. In typical TWORP fashion, we went with the crazy: The Cancer Man selected the absolutely bug-nets insane Blood Dolls, while I rocked my Miike-love by selecting Ichi the Killer. Madness ensued.

So there ya have it: two guest spots from us to make up for a delayed episode. Hope you enjoy them, and I definitely hope you check out these other shows. They are quality, folks, and well worth your time.
